Outer Banks Catch Photo Contest Now Accepting Entries

Snag the perfect photo and you might have lured $300 in cash and prizes in the Outer Banks Catch 2012 Photo Contest held in conjunction with the inaugural Outer Banks Seafood Festival on October 20, 2012.

Outer Banks Catch Photo Contest is looking for digital images of (1) the watermen (2) the seafood catch, and (3) the commercial fishing industry. These photos may be taken in the present or may be old photos from years gone by. They ask that you do not include any photographs that were taken outside the four County area of the Outer Banks Catch region – Currituck, Dare, Hyde and Tyrell Counties. Old photos must be converted to a digital format for consideration in the contest.

The Outer Banks Catch photo contest is open to all photographers at least 18 years of age.  A completed contest form must accompany photo submissions including name, address, telephone number, and email address. The fee is $10.00 to submit up to five photographs. The entry fee can be paid online here.

The contest consists of three categories, in which there will be a first and second prize in each of the categories, People, Fishing Industry and Fresh Catch.  A People’s Choice award will be chosen by the number of votes during the Seafood Festival on October 20, 2012.  The winners will receive gift certificates as prizes.  First place winners will receive cash and prizes in the amount of $300.00 and second place winners will receive cash and prizes in the amount of $200.00 in each of the three categories. Third place winners will receive cash and prizes in the amount of $100.00 in each of the three categories. The prize for the People’s Choice Award will be $300.00


All entries must be received by September 15.  Winning photographs will be selected by September 30.  Winners will be recognized at the Outer Banks Seafood Festival on October 20 and at the November meeting of the Dare County Board of Commissioners.
